Purpose

The purpose of this qualification is to train the learner to operate and qualify as a plumber artisan. The plumber installs, maintains, tests and repairs hot and cold-water supply systems, below and above ground drainage systems, Installation of sanitary ware appliances and installation of rainwater systems.

Course Overview

The learners will attend institutionalised training at our centres which are situated in Cape Town, Kya Sands and Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth). The course is broken up into three sessions of 8 weeks per year over a period of three years. In year 1 they will focus on Hand skills and tools, the introduction to plumbing industry, Installation of bathroom sanitary aware appliances and Cut bend and assemble Copper and GMS pipework and cold water systems.

In year 2 they focus on the GMS gutters and flashing, Rainwater systems, hot water systems and kitchen and laundry sanitary ware appliances

Then in year 3 they will focus the drainage system both above ground and below ground, Manholes and testing of the reticulated plumbing system.
